As the names imply, the middle distinction between the 2 prop designs includes the orientation of the blades relative to the propeller hub. Pitch affects the manner a propeller blade will slice via the air. A low (great) pitch positions the blade of the propeller in a slightly more vertical function from ground degree.

This configuration generates greater thrust and is good for take-off and ascent. At cruising altitude, a more horizontal, excessive propeller Fixed Pitch lets in the prop to move via the air greater effectively. This conserves fuel and reduces stress on the engine. A constant pitch propeller has its pitch determined at the factory whilst the propeller is made. Its blade orientation turned into examined and constructed for a specific plane to offer the most desirable mixture of overall performance and efficiency.
